Fabric page for Annie

This month we are working in the style of Lynda Monk. For this I used Tyvek fabric on Kumin felt and painted, and ironed it to get the texture. ( under baking parchment) I'm not keen on the look of it, but made the best of it into a page for us both.

Sunday Postcard Art -- Dress Form

On Sunday Postcard art the theme is Dress form, which I can't resist. I haven't entered this challenge for ages, so thought I would have a go.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we managed to sing from the same hymn sheet and the colours are red and yellow and the word is Easter.  I have used red and yellow Dylusion paints and then drew the bird and the eggs on watercolour paper. The page represents an Easter egg hunt that we do for my grandchildren every year.

Every Inchie Monday -- Equador

We are off to South America this week to the country of Equador. I have once again chosen to do the National bird and flower. The bird is the Andean condor and the flower the rose.
My youngest daughter took her year out before university in Chile, teaching English, and I went over to see her. It's a fabulous country and when we went down to Patagonia we saw condors in the sky, and a baby one sitting on a rock, quite close to the boat we were on.

Thursday Journal

This week Neet and I have our lines in a right old tangle so we have both done our own thing this week, so we can get sorted for next week.
This one is a journal page that I did for Wanderlust, the on line art course I am doing. It's mainly watercolours in many layers with some white pen work on the top. The lesson is called Layers of love
I really enjoyed doing this one and will try to do one in my large Dylusion journal. The lesson was taught by Marlene Mijer-van Niekerk, whose work is so colourful.

Every Inchie Monday -- Russia

It's Russia this week and I have taken one of my usual routes for this one, going for the National Animal and Flower. I wasn't in the right frame of mind to try to get some of those beautiful buildings into an inch.
The National animal is the brown bear and the flower the white daisy the camomile Matricaria Recutita.
My son lives in St Petersburg and we have yet to visit him there. It's on the places to visit, but it's very expensive. He teaches English and just loves it there.

Tag Tuesday -- Spring/Easter

For this fortnight on Tag Tuesday our team member Joan has chosen Spring/Easter. As I now have the second mountain of snow outside my studio I don't feel very Spring-like.
The background on my tag is Distress oxides. The poem on the very old piece of paper I found wrapped around some gold leaf of my Dad's, and as I found it on the day of the new challenge I decided to use it.
It say's:
The glory of the spring how sweet!
The new-born life how glad !
What joy the happy earth to greet,
In new, bright raiment clad.

I stamped the nest, feathers and eggs and used a wooden bird to sit on the nest.

Thursday Journal with Neet

My choice this time with Black and White. My other colour is red. The word is Silhouettes.
I did the background in red with som stencil work in a lighter red. I used a mask for the figures and more stencils to draw through on the silhouettes. I was in a bit of a hurry with this one, I have a rotten cold and didn't feel like doing much.

Every Inchie Monday -- Samoa

For Samoa this week I have chosen the red ginger, the National flower, for the sewn one and the Manumea( A unique tooth-billed pigeon ) for the National animal/bird. The Manumea is endangered now due to deforestation and predators, like cats and rats, as well as human intervention.

Life Book 2018 -- Whimsical birds

For this lesson with Tam we drew whimsical birds, here  is one of mine, I got a bit carried away and have done quite a few of them. I will post the others late.
This one I am entering in the PaperArtsy blog challenge which is 'Whimsy'.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we are using Tim Holtz distress inks in Worn Lipstick and Broken China.
As it is International Womans Day today I have used that to illustrate the word which is Bunting.
The background is stencilled with the two background colours.

Every Inchie Monday -- Australia

This week we are down under in Australia. Peter and I went to Australia for nine weeks in 2004 to visit friends and relations. I didn't see any of my relations, only Peters. Until we came home and I spoke to my cousins I didn't know where they were. My great grandfather went there as a mining engineer when my grandmother was a baby. He saved up enough money to have her brought over, and when the lady went to get her in South Wales, the husband of great grandma's sister, had drunk all the money that great grandad had sent over. My grandmother never managed to get over there and never saw her father. Her father's sister brought her up with her own six girls, all of them I remember well. Grandma's mother had died I think in childbirth. He married again and had two daughters, it is their family that now live near Sidney.
We had the most wonderful time and I loved it there. If I hadn't had three children and my mum I would have stayed there. Whether we will ever go again is doubtful, age and money being the main stumbling blocks.
I have chosen to do the Koala and Ayres rock for my inches. I have chosen koala as not only did I spot one in the wild, sleeping in a tree, but I got to hold one as well. He was very heavy and very friendly.

Here of some pictures that definitely don't look like Australia.
These are views from our front door which Peter dug his way through today before the grandchildren came and one from my studio window which was 6 ft deep. The wind had deposited half of the snow from the field into our garden. The kids loved it, and the littlest one asked to see the drift mountain as soon as she arrived.

Thursday Journal Journal with Neet

This week the two colours are red and yellow, my third colour is orange. The word is circles.
I used yellow as the main colour and used red and orange through various stencils. I then used a stencil to draw the circles using an architects stencil.
The figure is a Dylusions one.
