Fabric woodland book

Another two pages for my woodland/tree book. The first one is made using bits of scrap fabric, placing organza on top, and top stitching with the machine. The postcard in the middle is on painted pelmet vilene with free machine embroidered.

This one has three lutrador leaves, which were painted and then zapped with a heat gun to make them look decayed. I used a running stitch around them.

Every Inchie Monday -- Rhinosorus

This week on Every Inchie Monday, the rhinosorus is taking centre stage. Not an animal I would like to encounter, they look like really bad tempered beasts. The stampbord is with shrink plastic and the sewn one with very soft leather.
I am away at the weekend and then next week I have a friend coming for a week of non stop chatting and sewing. I think I have everything ready, just need to do some more meals for the freezer, so I don't have to waste time cooking. We are also going to the Festival of Quilts for even more ideas, as if we don't have enough already.

Tag Tuesday -- My favourite colour combination

This my second tag for Chrissies theme on Tag Tuesday. This is a bigger tag, again with a distress inked background. On this one I used a few stamps on the background. I stamped two of my Lynne Perrella stamps and added some flowers to the the bottom corner.

Go Tag Thursday -- Seaside

One of my favourite things this week on Go Tag Thursday, it's the seaside. Many years of going to the seaside and having a chalet as a child has made me very nostalgic, so I love doing art and embroidery that is sea orientated
This is a large tag, that I used distress inks on to colour the background. I used texture paste on the edge of the sea for some texture, and some accent beads on the sand. I stamped and coloured all the images and added some die cut seagulls. and a crab charm.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we are off to Africa, and I have used a double page that I had painted before. I had wondered what I would use these pages for, and was thinking of painting them black and doing a black and white page. I searched out any African stamps in my stash and they are all very small, so this was the best I could come up with. Once again the colours are more true on the single pages.

Tag Tuesday -- My favourite colour combination

For the next fortnight on Tag Tuesday Chrissie has chosen 'My favourite colour combination'  Mine is definitely turquoise and copper type colours. My first tag is a simple one with a distress inked background and a script background. I stamped two flowers and coloured them with my Derwent inktense crayons. I added some sari ribbon to frame the flowers.

Every Inchie Monday -- Camel

This week we are off to the desert, and to the not very lovable camel. I did have a ride on one once as a youngster, and I remember the strange movement it made. I have never wanted to repeat the experience. It was a bit like the bare back ride Peter and I had in India, where Peter was doing his best to fall off sideways and take me with him. I was terrified. I didn't care how many films this huge mail elephant had stared in, I just wanted to get off.

This is a photographer my Grandfather on a camel in Egypt during the First World War, he's the one in the middle.

New Fabric Book

I have started a new fabric book. This time I am doing one on woodland and trees. Not as easy as I thought it would be. I so enjoyed making the sea book, that I thought I would do the same type of pages, in other words, one where nearly every page is a different technique. Not so easy with trees, so I have added fungi, birds, flowers etc into this one, hence the woodland idea.
Here is the first double page. The first one consists of layers of fabric sewn down with a felted tree on top with some fallen leaves at the base.
The second one is a felted and machine sewn tree on a vilene postcard. The leaves at the sides are fabric sewn down by hand and machine.

Go Tag Thursday -- Bunting or Flags

This week on Go Tag Thursday the theme is bunting and or flags. I decided to go the Great Britain route, as I had a napkin with Union Jack type bunting on. I inked the white tag with the red and blue and stamped Big Ben with black ink. I added the die cuts and finished off with the bunting and flag ribbon

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we are off to colourful India. I was hoping to use my wooden Indian blocks to do this, but they don't stamp well on card. I did use one for the elephant but ended up having to draw most of it by hand. It is a very old one that I picked up on Camden Market in London, and my hands were brown after using it. I didn't even bother trying any of the paisley type ones.
I am not overly happy with it, especially as I love doing Indian themed art.
The two single pages are more like the original colour, my iPad scanner tends to alter the colours.

3D embroidery -- Orange

This my third 3D embroidery, I'm completely addicted to them. I think I'll do the red one next. I have added a picture of all three of them.

Every Inchie Monday -- Buffalo

Having spent one of the hottest days of the year at my two grandsons sports day, the last thing I wanted to do was try and get a buffalo on an inch. There was no shade on the sports field, and I now feel completely drained. When we arrived home all the flower pots needed watering, and the greenhouse sorting.
My stampbord inch is with shrink plastic and the sewn one is leather. It was very difficult to sew and I had to use an awl to make the holes for sewing. I am not very pleased with it, he looks a right old misery.

Go Tag Thursday -- Buttons

On Go Tag Thursday, the theme of buttons gave me the opportunity to make a fabric tag. I used a picture of my mum's eldest sister ( Auntie Ivy) and transferred it onto fabric. I used lace and buttons to enhance the tag. I am going to make an ancestors fabric book with a friend, so this tag will be going into the book.

Tag Tuesday - CAKE

Cake is the theme this week on Tag Tuesday. I have absolutely nothing in my stash for this one apart from this picture of a little girl with her birthday cake. I used a background paper and then ripped up a photocopy of some cake recipes. I stamped the balloons, added a doily and a lace bow.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we are off to Paris, gosh haven't been there for years.  Just fancy a weekend in Paris come to think of it. Now where is that lottery ticket !!!! ( I don't actually do the lottery, but one can dream)
For this page I used an already painted one and did some collage to start off with. I added a postcard and stamped some Dylusion figures. I gave her Eiffel Tower hair and the poodle some fancy holiday wear and a hair cut.

Every Inchie Monday -- Fly

It's the insects turn this week on Every Inchie Monday, and it's fly. Not my favourite insect, as I hate them in the house. My stampbord one is drawn and coloured with glitter pens. The sewn one is a fishing fly as I really couldn't face sewing fine wings.

Go Tag Thursday -- In The Garden

This is my second tag for Go Tag Thursday and for TIOT as well where the theme is In the garden and tags
Once again I used the dreaded die, and this time used my unused watering can stamp that was with the little gardener on my previous tag. I knew it would come in useful one day.!! There was also a second saying that went with the watering can.

Go Tag Thursday -- In the garden

On Go Tag Thursday the theme is 'In the garden' where I am spending a lot of time at the moment.
I started out by using distress oxides on the tag and then used a new die cut. This was good in theory, but when it came to it, it was a real pain. The die cut ended up as a load of flowers in different shapes and sizes, and a large negative where the flowers once resided. I cut another one so I could use different colours in each negative. Are you keeping up with this !!! I have made two tags ( will put the other one on at the weekend) and used the different coloured negatives with the cut out flowers. Did I have enough, no I didn't.  Did they all fit back into the holes, no they didn't.
I then stamped the saying and the little gardener. Some paper and fabric flowers finished it off. I dread to think how long this took.

I am also entering this on Try it on Tuesday, where the theme is tags.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we are off to Egypt, which seems appropriate as the temperature here must be as hot as North Africa. Too hot to do much in the garden, although I have plants that must be planted out today.
I used an already painted page, and added some Egyptian stampings. I used a Dylusions figure and gave him a Tutankhamun  stamped mask for his head. He had to have a cat in true Egyptian fashion.

Go tag Thursday -- Butterflies

A second tag for Go Tag Thursday. This time I have used a dig background made ages ago and various stamped images plus some from my dwindling stash, (A drop in an ocean)

Tuesday 4 July 2017

Go tag Thursday -- Butterflies

I'm late again.  On Go Tag Thursday the theme is butterflies. For this tag I used distress oxides, and a large butterfly background stamp. I added some corrugated card at the bottom and added some butterflies from my stash.

Every Inchie Monday -- Hippo

Now getting a hippo on an inch was a challenge. The stampbord was easier as I used shrink plastic. The sewn one I decided not to put a whole one on, but to do a front few of one in water..
