All wrapped up embroidery

This is an embroidery I did with Sheila at Celyn Textiles. It's called all wrapped up. The base is felt, and bubble wrap ( hence the wrapped up bit) . Then plastic bags, coffee packets with silver inside, wire and other bits and bobs were added on top. The final layer of net holds all the elements together, with machine embroidery, beads and some felt leaves on top.

Tag Tuesday -- Spooky

I think I have Halloween'd myself out these last few weeks, and have therefore found my inspiration sadly lacking. I have made a double sided tag with blue backgrounds and resorted to orange for the second one. Neither of which I am very chuffed with. The skulls are raised up on foam pads. The saying is:
Step into the darkness
Say goodbye to the light
We live in an eternity
Where every day is night.

Every Inchie Monday -- Texture

Texture is the word on Every Inchie Monday and one I was more than happy to do. My stampbord one is made up of polymer clay tiles and an infill of beads. The sewn one is a mass of French knots.

An altered display thingy -- Halloween style.

A friend gave me this, thinking that I would do something with it. I have but several years after it was given to me. It seemed to suit several challenges.
I painted it with chocolate fresco paint, crackle glaze. and finished it with a layer of Victorian lace fresco paint. I papered the back wall with some of Tim's paper and cut out some of the poison adverts. I coloured them slightly with distress inks. I made two shelves out of thin wood and papered them. After sticking them to the back I painted some bottles to sit on the shelf and some skulls for the lower one.  A picture of E A Poe was adhered to the back with a few bats to keep him company. I added some spider webs with some fine webby stuff and some web fabric, with a rather large spider. I dislike spiders with a passion.
The skeleton and bottom border with the pumpkins was added to finish it off.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Sunday Postcard art -- Halloween

Gosh, Sunday seems to have come round rather quickly. I was late putting last weeks challenge in  which doesn't help. This week I have just used two main colours, orange and black, and used die cuts for most of the card.

Sunday Postcard art -- Spider webs

This is another challenge site I haven't been on for ages. This week on Sunday postcard art,  it is Spider webs, which prompted me to go down the Halloween route again.
The base of the card is the backing from one of Tim's stencils packets, which is a nice grungy brown. I embossed the webs and spiders in white, adhered a bottle shaped tag to the centre and a die cut in white at the base.

Try it on Tuesday -- Frightening - Halloween

I haven't done a challenge for TIOT for months, but the lure of Halloween gave me the excuse. I have made a double sided tag, with distress ink backgrounds. I then added some stamping, shrink plastic skull heads and cat. There are several die cuts and a large plastic spider.

Tag Tuesday -- Trees

The weather has been so good these last few days, I have spent a lot of time in the garden, so these tags have been made in a bit of a hurry. I love trees and leaves and could spend the whole week making things with them on. There are two recent fabric leaf books on my blog.
These two both have distress ink backgrounds, with a stencil on one and embossing paste through a stencil on the other. A raised die cut tree to add dimension to one. And a collection of die cut leaves adhered to the base of both trees.

Every Inchie Monday -- Yoghurt

I like eating yoghurt, but not so keen on drawing it. I drew the stampbord one and the sewn one is made from a non-woven fabric which doesn't fray. As it's not very obvious the yoghurt is raspberry, my favourite, these I made with French knots. The peeled back lid is painted silver. I added a small spoon to eat it with.

Fabric scrappy book

When I went to stay with my friend for a textile two days we made a start on a fabric book. We just used scraps of fabric, and of course, I chose turquoise. We only just made the cover and the rest I have done at home.

The fabrics are a mixture of gelli prints, batiks, and ribbon and lace. The leaves are pelmet vilene painted with acrylic paints.
Having laid down all the fabric scraps, I thought it needed something else. I seem to be on a tree and leaf theme at the moment so decided to make some leaves in a contrast colour. Autumn colours go well with the blue, and I had a few left over from  the previous book. I made some more and then started to put the pages together.
This post is a bit picture heavy.

Tag Tuesday -- People

A very simple tag this week using just black and white and red. I used a Crafty Individuals stamp for the main image, and used die cuts for the rest.

Every Inchie Monday -- Key

This week on Every Inchie Monday the word is key. For the stampbord one, I used grungeboard for the lock and shrink plastic for the key. The sewn one has a base of baby wipe that I had used to clean paint off a stencil with hand stitching on top.

Anything But Cute Challenge challenge 7.--- 31 days of Halloween

The Halloween challenge on Anything but cute is to use the number 31 on your project.
I have made a Halloween book and used the 31 on the cover. All the pages are different shapes and sizes with lots of different Halloween images. They are all double sided, and I have shown just a few of them.

The Challenge for Our Creative Corner is halloween Horror & The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is Word Search.

Here is my entry for 'Our Creative corner'. It is a small Tim Holtz  configuration box that I have painted in Halloween colours. I painted the outside of the box in black then placed various spooky things inside.
The handle at the top is a large plastic bat. The circle in the front with a bat on lights up in red ( top picture)

For the 'Mixed Media Monthly Challenge' is Word Search, and you have to say which words you have found to use in your project. Mine are bat, pumpkin and scull.

The challenges I have entered this into are://
